Instructions for finding the beam

  • Move sample to make sure you are not on a grid bar
  • If you are using the cryostage make sure the shutter is open
  • Make sure High Tension is on
  • Make sure the colum valves are open

Still cannot find beam

  • Slowly drop the magnification one step at a time
  • Once beam is located
    • Condense beam
    • Center the spot

2100 only

  • Press "photo" button
    • microscope may think it is taking a picture

3200 only

  • Make sure energy filter is not inserted

1230 only

  • Make sure camera is not inserted
