The best method to use for carbon coating is an on going debate. Best to find a method thatthat works and stick to it.

Deposition Methods

Carbon Thread

  • Reproducible results
  • Varying thread thicknesses available

Carbon Rod

  • Results not 100% reproducible
  • Graphite vs. pure carbon debate - graphite is softer than carbon meaning that less energy is required to evaporate graphite than carbon.
